My best friend’s wife is a native Venezualan. In her family’s view, Chavez has basically destroyed their country. All of them are looking for a way to emigrate out of their land of birth, simply because it is unsafe and (they think) getting worse.

Venezuelans are divided about him. He claims to have brought social programs to the poor, raising literacy, providing health care, schooling and soup kitchens to feed the poor. But he did at the expense of the fabulously wealthy who are not happy .You can claim he is a disaster if you wish, but the truth as usual is nearer the middle.
