Also too bad Godwin’s law wasn’t legally enforceable.

Nitpick: Godwin’s Law is predictive, not normative.
Holy crap, did you see Chris Matthews take apart this guest about this today? I don’t know who he was but as soon as he got on he started in on Obama. Chris simply asked him what Neville Chamberlain did and the schmuck didn’t even know! Priceless!
What Bush said could apply to most of the left, not just Obama. And Obama looks bad by making a mountain out of a molehill with his macho, chest-beating reaction. If Obama took it personally, Bush hit a nerve.
But my speculation is that Obama bit at this to overshadow the “sweetie” remark.
Bullshit. It was clearly directed at Obama, even if his name wasn’t mentioned, and the White House even admitted after the fact that Bush was talking about him. Not talking to your enemies is just plain idiotic.
Bush was talking about the Democratic party and electing the person they are going to nominate. That’s obviously Obama. Anything else is disingenuous. But obviously he’s casting a wider net and referring to all Democrats running for office.

Methinks your understanding of the timing is a bit off the mark. NK ratified the Nuclear Non-Proliferation treaty in 1985. And your allegation that the US failed to follow thru on the Agreed Framework is also wrong. (cite.)
So what you are saying is, Clinton negotiated an agreement, the US kept its part, NK violated it almost from the get-go, and it is Bush’s fault because he called them on it.
Okaaaaay…

Jeez… If we are going to cite wikipedia, let’s at least cite the article on the agreed framework and not the article on the NPT…
from here:
Soon after the agreement was signed, U.S. Congress control changed to the Republican Party, who did not support the agreement.[3] Some Republican Senators were strongly against the agreement, regarding it as appeasement [9] [10]. Initially U.S. Department of Defense emergency funds not under Congress control were used to fund the transitional oil supplies under the agreement [11], together with international funding. From 1996 Congress provided funding, though not always sufficient amounts [12]. Consequently some of the agreed transitional oil supplies were delivered late.[13] KEDO’s first director, Stephen Bosworth, later commented “The Agreed Framework was a political orphan within two weeks after its signature”. [14]
Some analysts believe North Korea agreed to the freeze primarily because of the U.S. agreement to phase out economic sanctions that had been in place since the Korean War. But because of congressional opposition, the U.S. failed to deliver on this part of the agreement. [15]
International funding for the LWR replacement power plants had to be sought. Formal invitations to bid were not issued until 1998, by which time the delays were infuriating North Korea. [16] In May 1998 North Korea warned it would restart nuclear research if the U.S. could not install the LWR.[17] Formal ground breaking on the site was on August 21, 1997,[18] but significant spending on the LWR project did not commence until 2000.[19]
There was increasing disagreement between North Korea and U.S. on the scope and implementation of the treaty. When by 1999 economic sanctions had not been lifted and full diplomatic relations between U.S. and North Korea had not been established, North Korea warned that they would resume nuclear research unless the U.S. kept up its end of the bargain. The U.S. repeatedly stated that further implementation would be stalled as long as suspicions remained that the North Korean nuclear weapons research program continued covertly.
Construction of the first LWR reactor began in August 2002.[20] Construction of both reactors was well behind schedule. The initial plan was for both reactors to be operational by 2003, but the construction had been halted indefinitely in late 2002.
From this, I don’t think it is clear that the US kept its part of the agreement…
Or are you talking about the NPT… Ahhhh… But sovereign states can withdraw from treaties. They announced their intention to withdraw from the NPT just like we withdrew from the ABM treaty. Clinton signed the agreed framework with them to stop them from building nukes. Bush let them build nukes and did nothing to stop them. Maybe the agreed framework was bad idea for our country in that it was appeasement of a rogue state, but it did keep one less nuclear power in the world. Now the genie is out of the bottle and our problems with this country are 100 times more serious IMHO, YMMV.

Yeah. Where do they find these losers? First, the twit SHOUTED EVERYTHING HE SAID. Second, he could not admit he didn’t know what Chamberlain did to appease Hitler*, even after it became clear that Matthews was going to ride his ass till he broke.
Anyway, on to the post I had planned on:
Lord love a duck, two gerbils, and an arthritic goldfish! If the Determinator is comparing Obama to Hitler now, what the hell will he be saying by the end of October? Hope the White House Physician has a straightjacket in stock.
On a related note: wanna bet this Administration revives Terrorism Alerts, oh, about the beginning of the Democratic Convention?

Simply: It would look bad.

In and of itself, though, there’s nothing wrong with making such a decision. “We’re at war, maybe I should avoid looking like I’m pursuing trivial things” is a perfectly reasonable decision to make. Leaders do have to consider how their behaviour appears. You’re only a psychopath is that’s all that matters to you; you’re not a psychopath just for knowing it matters in addition to other things.
What’s bothersome is that it was a lie. He stopped playing golf because he hurt his knee. There’s photographic evidence that his story was a complete fabrication. He DIDN’T stop playing golf because it would look bad, and he made up a bullshit story to frame it, too. IT wasn’t just a lie, it was unnecessary and betrays an alarming lack of foresight, since he should have known his lie would be quickly revealed.
And of course, pathological lying and lack of foresight ARE traits of a psychopath.

Bush Uses Holy Land Pulpit to Launch Smear Campaign | HuffPost Latest News Heres a Begala article in which he says Bush has done it 3 times himself. More Bush crap.
Obama’s nothing like Hitler.
When Hitler declared war on the United States he was dead forty months later. Obama’s lucky we don’t have somebody like FDR running the country now.
Wow. Bush called them on it. How did that work out? Oh, yeah, North Korea has nuclear weapons now. It appears Bush might have overestimated the deterent power of calling somebody out.

Friggin hilarious.
I hope Bush opens his mouth about the Election as much as possible from now til November.

Matthews Rips Guest For Ignorance of History, Then Claims Cole Attack Happened Under Bush
What’s the problem with Bush sounding off anyway? He’s as much an imbecile as Obama but they both have the right to express themselves in public and expose their views to the world at large.
I really can’t see any reason for anyone to have a conniption over this.
As for the future, here’s the foreign policy genius Obama on the shortage of Arabic speakers in Afghanistan (among other things):
I suspect an Obama White House will be at least as buffoonish as the Bush White House in the foreign policy area and the world will be able to observe yet another four years of hilarity mixed with tragedy.
So what?
The world has become accustomed to this. Some of us have even learned to appreciate the charm of the American political process that can provide the world with an endless succession of Bergholt Stuttley Johnsons at the helm. ![]()
I haven’t read the thread (not interested, because it was all over the news all day and I’m over it), but I just wanted to say that the title made me laugh my ass off. Somehow, against all odds, in 7+ years of lunacy, I have not heard the term “President Dumbass”. Thank you :D.
