In a question about HFCS and obesity. the suggestion is made (and rejected) that use of HFCS is due to pressure from corn growers…Cecil points out that HFCS is used because it is cheaper.
As every true Australian knows, the use of Corn Syrup (and it’s economic advantage) is due to pressure from American suger beet and suger cane growers, who maintain high suger prices by keeping out cheap imported (Australian cane) suger
Not to mention Cuban.
Nope.
The economic advantage of HCFS/corn sugar is due to the wide adaptability and ease of growing corn compared to sugar cane. And it’s not the Australians threatening U.S. sugar growers, it’s them Brazilians.
Rarely will you find Al Franken and Marco Rubio on the same side of an issue. 
As I’ve said before, conservatives talk plenty about reducing the size of government, unless it suits them. Liberals are hypocritical in other areas.
