Prettiest actress from 40's-50's crime/film noir

I never thought Gloria Grahame was all that attractive; that long upper lip was just too bizarre. She was okay, and a pretty good actress, but that lip was distracting.

She has pretty lips.
:dubious:

Tie between Gloria Grahame and Dorothy Malone.

I too always thought Ida Lupino stood out as a figure of the genre, especially since she directed Hitch-hiker. Roadhouse is one of my favorites in the genre, and there we get to hear her sing.

Lucille Ball did at least one noir film (actually, I found three in the crime/noir genres), and I think she counted as “pretty”.

Surely, you jest.

May I make a request? If this thread is to continue, and you include a link, could you be sure to have it be a link to a hot photo of these actresses? At least, please don’t (just) link to a Wiki page, since they will almost never have one?

Some of use are too young to know much about these actresses.

Lauren Bacall

Did she do any film noirs? Off the top of my head, I can’t recall any.

Incidentally, if you compare a picture of a young Angela Lansbury with that of Nicole Kidman, you’d swear they were related. By her appearance alone, Lansbury could convincingly pull off playing Kidman’s mother or grandmother.

Have you ever seen Debra Paget? She is one of the most incredibly beautiful (and pretty) women in films from the 40s and 50s. If you ever get the chance, do see her in Princess of the Nile (1954). She has a rather small part as Princess Shalimar. But, when she does her dance, she elevates her beauty way past the level of the 1950s. She would knock out any audience from the 70s, 80s, 90s and beyond. What an incredible beauty! And she is still alive!

Agree with you on Paget but, again, did she appear in any film noirs? That’s what this thread is about.

Definitely! Wait, what the hell is noir?
Gaslight
A Life At Stake
Please Murder Me
The Hoodlum Saint

If Grace Kelly qualifies to enter this competition then she wins hands down.

Barbara Payton is interesting. Wasn’t there another actress from this time who had similar downfall?

edit: Veronica Lake.

I vote for Hedy in any case. Next would be Rhonda or Ingrid.
