Prevalance of pancreatic cancer in cats.

My little buddy died last June of pancreatic cancer. Until then I’ve never really heard of many cats getting this. Now all of the sudden since my little guy died I’ve heard of 7 cats dying of this in my town and surrounding area. All cats were indoor, some not old (8 or 9) and some ancient like my boy (he was 17 or 18)

My co-workers friend just lost two cats to it one week apart. They were not from the same litter.

What the hell is going on? Is this something vets are seeing more of or am I only noticing it because of what happened to Bean?

I live in NW Ohio if that makes a difference. (We do have a high incidence of Multiple Sclerosis, ALS, and the like here so it wouldn’t surprise me in the least)
