I’m assuming that Priebus’ condition for continued employment was getting the Health Care bill through. In a sense, not a big surprise that he’s getting it, but a bit surprising that they already have a replacement lined up.
Though I do think it should have been clear to anyone with half a brain that if you’re failing to interface with Congress like you want to, hiring someone who doesn’t know or understand politics and how Congress works is not going to be a successful strategy.
By all accounts, Bannon was against hiring Scaramucci, and given that Scaramucci subsequently accused Bannon of being out for himself and “sucking his own cock” it’s probably safe to assume they don’t get along. I suspect only one of them will survive, but it’s probably too early to say which one.
My prediction: White House spokespeople will claim it was because of issues healthcare reform, Trump later contradict them by claiming Priebus was leaking to the press. The leaks will continue unabated.
Clearly the main problem with this administration was the Chief of Staff. I think we’re going to see a whole new administration now. This is going to be so mainstream, we’re all going to be bored!
He could make a fortune if he was willing to offer up some juicy tidbits. Or, maybe he’ll get a killer deal from Fox or even MSNBC. If I were him, I’d have no qualms cashing in on Trump.
Either Trump’s White House is truly and utterly dysfunctional and broken beyond repair and it’s just a matter of time before the Constitution works as it should and begins the process of removing him – or he’s trying a new strategy in which he basically says ‘fuck interfacing with congress’ and tries to dial up the crazy and in doing so put pressure on the spineless republicans to join forces against democrats and moderates, and in doing so initiates the process of tearing down American democracy. But getting rid of Preibus and his Hill connections are indeed potentially noteworthy. The experts told him he needed to work with congress to get his agenda, and from his point of view, that didn’t work. He never trusted the experts anyway, so they’re out. He’s going to double down with non-experts and people who really know how to run over people. That’s what I suspect this is about: he wants to run over people, not negotiate with them.
