There’s only ever been one heiress apparent in British history, but that was due to some vary strange cirumstances. Anne was the heiress apparent of her brother-in-law, William III, because of special provisions the Bill of Rights placing her ahead of any children he had by by a woman other than Mary II. The only way there can be an heiress apparent under present British law is for the monarch’s eldest son to die leaving only daugthers. The eldest daughter would become heiress apparent since nobody could be born to displace her.
