The lack of a list of subscribed threads sorted by currency is a deal breaker. Please fix this or move to another platform. Also, Discourse is very in your face / needy rather than an efficient environment.
Back in my day, we never had multiplication tables in school. Our math books read “Two times two is four. Three times two is six. Four times two is eight. Five times two is ten. Two times three is six. Three times three is nine. Four times three is twelve. Five times three is fifteen. Two times four is eight. Three times four is twelve. Four times four is sixteen. Five times four is twenty.”: As my father said, tables were for eating on, not reading.
Whatever happened to conveying information through the art of precise, well-crafted prose in the tradition of classical legal English, rather than with a sterile, cold crutch like a table? I, for one, would rather see a sentence instead of a cell.

That’s the word I’ve been searching for! It’s like the salesperson that won’t stop following you around the store with suggestions and constantly thrusting stuff in your face. I’d rather just browse quietly…
This is a joke? Right? I assume I’m getting whooshed.
My first quote…
elmwood ended with /s… Sarcasm tag
ETA:. Forgot you lose the quote if it is the immediately preceding post!
The bolded is where likes can apparently go wrong – if there are easily-accessible and visible ways to display one’s number of likes, and people start using likes as in-board status currency … I can see where that can be a problem.
Rest assured that’s not an invariable outcome.
Thank you, I figured I was missing something.
Sorry you’re having problems, you got a whole lot of Monday.
We’re changing from something we’ve used for over 20 years. There’s bound to be some learning curve. And I appreciate it’s not so much fun having new things forced on you.
Mostly people are unhappy because it’s not their 20 year old experience. Nothing was going to be.
Just relax and take it as it comes, it will get better.
People with multiple accounts are a problem. But I got so many problems right now you’re not my #1 priority and I hope you understand that.
Later.

Re: Threded replies. Maybe I’m the only one seeing them? Under Czarcasm’s third post in this thread (for example), I see “2 Replies”. I then have to click to see the replies.
Neither is everything will be fine with likes enabled. I am mostly encouraging looking at it as a risk vs reward calculation. I would put it as a small risk but for even smaller rewards.
I know it will and I can’t wait for it.
(This is getting exciting.)
That pseudo-nested view of replies doesn’t show up on every device, so some people may not be able to see that.
Internal links are broken. Go to any pre-Discourse post that contains a link to another SDMB thread (or individual post) like this one about a warning to puddleglum. The link in the top post is broken.
I’ll complain. I used the hover constantly to decide if I wanted to read a thread. I’ll really miss that if we can’t get it back.
I was seeing that, too, and was a bit annoyed. It turns out the threaded replies are also shown inline at their appropriate position in the discussion. So, at least on the theme I was using at the time, I could see the replies under the replied-to post, or just read them later.
It seems different themes handle it different. I’m on Discourse Classic, and I’m not seeing the “2 Replies” thing. I can’t find a theme that I completely like. I prefer the reading layout of classic, the colors of dark, and the post list information from Sam’s simple.
Okay, I found a work-around for that. Highlight what you want to format or embed a link in, then pinch-zoom the page until the edit bar is bigger than the pop-up menu.
Is there a way to see user names instead of avatars? Avatars are…less than optimal…
Thank you! I’ve checked and that seems to be the case! I rescind my complaint and say that everything seems to be working quite nicely for me.
Thank you - one less thing for an old dog to learn.
