I’m assuming that the search index hasn’t completed yet.
And I hadn’t even bothered trying to click on that icon, which actually shows the post in question! Even better!
I don’t see that and it’s one of the features I like on another board I read that is run on Discourse. I’m using the simple theme. Does it only work in certain themes? Or do I need to do something that sets it up?
I should have specified that I am talking about the scroll bar. Too late to edit.
Here’s a great thing I just noticed: we now have a Zombie indicator: in Sam’s Simple Theme (at least), the thread list shows the date of the OP. And inside the thread, a separator between posts indicates how much time has passed between posts. I saw one that said “15 years later.” Nice!
I saved that one!
I posted this in the “are you here?” thread, but it’s worth mentioning here as well.
In my profile, I put “The Guaranteed Eternal Sanctuary Man” as my full name. Now, when you click my profile card or hover over my avatar, my Full Name shows up.
Also, not sure if this has been addressed, but for all of you who now have underscores in your user name, it looks like your original user name ported over to Full Name(?). When I hover over your avatar, your old SMDB name shows. E.g.: on mouseover, What_Exit appears properly as What Exit?
Unless y’all have edited your profiles…
I figured out a way to make it work. It’s weird but no problem now.
My custom title disappeared. Also, I don’t see an option for setting a new custom title. I paid good money for that!
MIne is gone for the moment, too. I suspect that, like having ads suppressed for paid members, it’s something that will get addressed in the next few days.
I just looked at a thread that I posted to before the transition (No more Aunt Jemima). The notification was set to Normal, which means I’m only notified if someone mentions me or replies to me. Under the old system, I would be notified if anyone posted to the thread, which is more like the Tracking or Watching notification status. The result is that I’m not finding out about new posts to threads that I’m interested in.
I’ve set my preferences to set the notification status to Watching when I post in a thread, but that has no effect on threads I’ve already subscribed to.
I don’t have the time or patience to go through every thread I’ve ever posted to and set the notification status manually. Is there some efficient way to do this?
Click the reply button or quote a bit of the post, then type some text in the reply box – it doesn’t matter what, but you do need a bit of text in there, otherwise when you shrink the box it disappears altogether. Once you’ve got some text, click the little down arrow in the right corner of the box; it’ll shrink to a thin bar at the bottom of the window, and you can go back to reading the thread without its being in the way. Anything else you decide to quote later in the thread will show up in the same reply box.
When you want to reply or decide not to, click what will now be an up arrow in the bar at the bottom of the window, and the box reappears. Either finish your post (if needed) and hit “reply”, or hit “cancel” right next to it.
I just made a post of a few paragraphs in MPSIMS in response to @Dinsdale1, and got the message “Body is limited to 2500 characters; you entered 2770”. Had to break it up into two posts. A reasonable post-length limit might be OK, but this is way too short.
100,000 is an acceptable limit, IMO. But even that may sometimes be too restricting.
Re the string of avatars: The first one is the OP, the last one is the most recent poster. Hover over the avatar to see the name.
Is there a way to mouseover to see the first few lines of a OP?

Were you ever able to set a password? I haven’t been, not so far. I never got the email to set a password, not after many, many attempts. Once, I received one with a link that let me login to the board but didn’t prompt me to set a password. I think it set a cookie so I’m able to get back in but only on this one computer. I’ve been emailing back and forth with TubaDiva and she’s escalated the issue to the development team.
What happens when you hit the “Forgot my password” link?
Thanks!
Thank you.
