Problem with HP 5800 Printer

I was trying to print some small cards on my HP 5800. It has two guides, one of which touches the long edge of the paper, the other the width. The width guide came off, I cannot get it back on, and now the printer will not work without scrunching up all the papers. Can anyone advise me?

I’m not familiar with that particular model but check HP’s website (www.hp.com) and you can find parts manuals under the Support section. You can look up the part number and order a replacement (assuming it’s actually broken). Installation will probably be pretty simple, you might need to remove a small Phillips screw or two. Parts can often be quite inexpensive.

It didn’t break but just came off. I cannot figure out how to get it back on again, however. I am sure it is an easy task, but beyond my ability to figure it out by looking at it.

Search for a “diagram” or “parts diagram” for that specific model of printer. Most of them are available online. Usually, studying that diagram will let you figure out how to re-assemble it.
