Problem with Windows sounds in XP

I’m using the onboard sound on an Asus A7V333, and sound for winamp, games, and other stuff work perfectly. However, when I get any Windows sounds (error messages, etc), only a fraction of the sound is played. I’m using the drivers that came with the mobo, and I’ve also tried the newest drivers from windowsupdate.com. Does anyone know what this could possibly be?

Other Computer Stats:
Asus A7V333
Athlon XP 2100+
Asus GeForce4 MX 440
512MB PC2700

Thanks!

I’ve had this problem too, anyone know?

Anyone?

Please help

I had a look around on the net, and nobody had an answer, even though it was a problem that has happened to others.

Either it’s that the Windows sounds themselves are corrupted somehow, or it’s your sound card itself.

Could it be that your Windows native wav file player has corrupted maybe?

You say you’ve tried the drivers that came with the motherboard, inVINCEible.
Have you downloaded the latest version from [url=http://download.asus.com.tw/mb_dl_menu.asp?l1=1&l2=10&l3=18&mid=1]?
Have you installed the latest 4 in 1 driver?
Do you have a PCI sound card to try instead?
Which version of Windows are you running and have you always had this problem?
Try replacing any sound with a custom wav (e.g. one found on the web)

And lastly, try reinstalling Windows
