Got an MSI mother board in two computers and the one in Colleen’s computer after a fresh format and install of a full on XP PRO Os and even with all the updates including SP-3, I can’t get it to use the on board sound system.
It shows that the hardware is fine and operating correctly. It shows the drivers are good and operating correctly.
No sound.
Control panel - sounds - shows no available sound app or card.
Worked before and speakers work on other computers.
Help

Where exactly does it show this? It sounds like you dont have a driver.
Under sound in hardware manager you’ll see a few entries that arent the driver, like codecs and things. You’ll need to verify that there is a driver for the actual hardware in there.
It is on board sound.
Control panel - sounds - volume tab says “No audio device”
Hardware tab - all things so working properly except one ‘audio device’ on high definition buss not configured properly, (code 1)
???
Yep, thats your problem. That audio device is the sound card, Im guessing. Are you sure you installed the correct sound driver?
The on board was bad.
I killed it dead in BOIS.
I installed an old sound board from 98 days and all is fixed.
Thanks for the help.
