When I try to record my fat monster riffs, it sounds good on playback for about 30 seconds, then it sounds garbled, like I’m playing under water. I’ve tried playing louder, less loud… moved the mic closer, further away… I can usually get it to sound almost OK, but too quiet and not crisp enough. Any ideas?

I’ve had problems with Audacity making garbled sounds when I plugged in an XBox controller next to the microphone. When I plugged in the microphone somewhere else the problem went away.
