I live in South Florida, and I’m shopping for insurance. An agent for one company (not BCBS) told me that a lot of hospitals in Florida are having problem with BCBS, and some even do not accept it.
I am very skeptical of this claim for the obvious reasons. I plan on calling some local hospitals during business hours tomorrow (I tried today but it’s too late) but I was wondering if maybe some Dopers can tell me their experiences, or perhaps even direct me to an online resource to help me confirm/debunk this claim.
Thanks! I am getting very confused and anxious about this.
I’ve had BCBS for years and I’ve never had any kind of problem with it for hospitalization or regular medical stuff. I’m in the Jacksonville area, if that matters.
Dunno anything about S Fla, but I do know that some hospitals have begun to refuse certain BCBS plans elsewhere in the country due to the atitude of “We’re BCBS, if we say you’ll take $90/day for room and board, that’s what you’ll take”. The response has been “no, we won’t”. Try a more reputable company.
