So there are multiple threads on what products have you seen shortages or price hikes due to the pandemic, but as the pandemic hopefully ends (at least in vaccinated nations) what products do you expect to see price declines and the market being flooded?
This seems to already be happening with hand sanitizer. At first you couldn’t find it anywhere, now stores are selling it on the cheap or buy 1 get 1 free deals.
I’m hoping small chest freezers decline in price. Maybe they’ll overproduce and the price will drop. Prices have already started to become more reasonable again.
Lumber prices had better go down so can replace the decking on our deck before we fall through it. We put it off last year and think/hope we can wait another year or six months…
I’ve long since sold my last deck. But I vowed I’d never build an outdoor structure with natural wood again. It’s such a second rate material compared to the manmade stuff.
Menards (upper midwest) version of Trex is Ultra Deck. A 16’ by 5.5" Ultra Deck board runs from $53 to $82 per board today (5/25). I took pictures of the same price tags 4/17 when the $53 board was $42. I’m sure Trex would be more.
I also took pictures of the price tags for 5/4" by 16’ treated yellow pine. On 6/27/2020 it was $10.50. By 4/17/2021 it was $30.
