Program my MP3 player for a cross country trip!

OK, lets assume for a moment that I have the world’s most complete CD collection, because I would NEVER download content from a file sharing service.

With that aside, what 3 songs would you HAVE to HAVE if you were driving across country alone?

I know there are a few out there who will try to be eclectic for the sake of being eclectic, but really, help me out here. (no offense to the naturally eclectic)

I am stumped and have several Gigs left on the ol’ MP3 player. Give me a few songs that really mooooove you…

Be forewarned that I will wish a pox upon the home of anyone who lists anything by anyone named Avril, Justin or Brittany, or any artist whose name is a color.

Other than that, I am open to suggestions!

Well, you’d have to have

Born to be Wild
Life is a Highway and
Can’t drive 55

of course

Hmmm…

Free Ride - Edgar Winters Group
These Dreams - Heart
I Don’t Wanna Wait - Paula Cole

Just off the top of my head here

Who did Life is a Highway?

and who did Evangeline and Girlfriend?

aww, man … only 3?

these are in my car now, just for road trips:

Sunstroke (Original Mix) - by Chicane
Nagasaki Badger (Chicane Mix) - by Disco Citizens
Rock and Roll - by Led Zeppelin (I liked it as a drive tune long before Cadillac adopted it)

With a name like ‘chicane’, you just KNOW it’s a drive tune!

newcrasher…“Life Is A Highway” is Tom Cochrane, and if “Evangeline” and “Girlfriend” are from the same album, it’s probably Matthew Sweet.

Now, my three picks, road-tested in advance for your consideration:

“Portobello Belle” by Dire Straits (from Communique)
“Only The Lonely” by Frank Sinatra (from Only The Lonely)
“World Party” by the Waterboys (from Fisherman’s Blues)

The first two are especially good for late-night driving on a four-lane highway, which is when they hooked in for me.

Um…what ** peritrochoid** said.

You know I have heard alot about the Waterboys, but never gave them a listen…

…thanks!

Three songs???

What kind of lame-ass MP3 player only holds three songs??? You might as well try to hold a “World’s best Television” festival and limit it to four ten-minute clips.

“No Sleep 'til Brooklyn” - Beastie Boys
“Another State of Mind” - Social Distortion
“I Wanna be Sedated” - the Ramones

It holds about 3,000 songs.

I just want each song on there 1,000 times.

Son Volt - Windfall
Old 97’s - Niteclub
Built To Spill - Stop The Show

I couldn’t possibly limit myself to three so here goes…

Deep Purple - Highway Star
