Program to print huge photo enlargements...

I have to produce a huge (6 x 8 foot) photographic enlargment of the death mask of Tutankhamun.

Does anyone know:
-Where I can obtain a very high resolution image of the artifact (I’m prepared to accept a fair bit of pixellation in the enlargement as it will not be viewed from close up).
-A program that will allow me to break the image up into pieces that will print on an A4 inkjet printer (with bleed/overlap margins).

I also need some image morphing software; I tried WinMorph, but it doesn’t seem to quite do what I want; I have a photograph of an actor (who will be playing the part of Pharoah) and I’d like to subtly distort the facial features in the picture of Tutankhamun so that they resemble those of the actor; morphing doesn’t do it as it blends the image in too; I just want to warp the existing one.

I was looking at Adobe Photoshop 7.0 about your question. No idea where you can get a photo, but I suggest checking the museums that hosted the “King Tut” travelling exhibit, assuming this artifact was part of it. Otherwisem the museum where the thing resides.

You can pretty easily chop up the image yourself in Photoshop, but you might look into a professional printer who can print large format images. A friend of mine knows a printer that can print out 4 ft wide images (from a roll, so the other dimension can be much larger), so I imagine 6 ft is not out of the question. My friend pays about $1 per square foot for printing out on the large printer.

Note:
You can technically do the breaking up of the image in Excel - Page Break set-up, if you dont want to find or install any other software. It’s certainly not ideal though.

You can now e-mail specialist printers who can run off the image to whatever size you specify and post the result back to you.

Or, if you are friendly with any local architects, I’m sure they will have the facilities to do this for you.
(I do lots of posters for my boss’s church on a A0 colour printer here in our office.)
