I know there are various websites that allow you to input your address and give you a fairly close view, ie one close enough for you to be able to identify your house. I can’t seem to find any of these sites and I don’t know the right words to look for them. So uhh… any help?

It slow to load after you give it an address or zip code, and it’s a little tricky to get positioned. But I can zoom in far enough to not only identify my house, but my wife’s car in the driveway.
Try Mapquest.com and click on the Aerial Photo tab near the top. I did this to check out my present apartment’s neighborhood.
