When I began running again (after a 12+ year hiatus) I got chafe marks on my upper chest from my jogbra. My experienced running friend recommended Bodyglide. It works, but every time I increase my mileage, I get chafe marks in a different area. From upper chest to mid-ribcage to inner arms to waist to inner thighs to nipples (oh yeah that was a bonus). Every time I discover new chafing I add that area to my list of spots to coat with Bodyglide pre-run.
Sheesh. I should just give up and smear my entire body before each run. Hey, that might cut wind resistance and thereby improve my speed! Anybody know where I can buy in bulk?
I hate sandpapered nipples. I’ve been borrowing and covering up with the stars off my kid’s achivement chart but I think she’s getting tired of that. Is Bodyglide like vaseline? Will it stain cotton?
I’ve got a roller of Bodyglide. I’ve also got lots of little samples of Aquaphor.
I love the Aquaphor because it’s not greasy, even though you do need to apply it with your hands. But it’s freakin’ EXPENSIVE! So I hoard them when they are in a goody bag from a race I run.
As an amusing aside, one of my earlier threads was “Help! My boob is stuck to my bra!” I had chafed on a run, it scabbed over, scab dampened in the shower, then hardened to the inside of my bra. OUCH!
I’ve learned to lube up appropriately now before long runs, but there’s always just a little spot that manages to get a little raw. Underarms, legs, the small of my back where the tag of the shorts is, collars, whatever. Oy.
Hey, if you need any help with that just let me know.
But seriously, I had the same problem with my groin. I have always had very large thighs, whether they were muscular or flabby, they always rubbed against each other. I solved the problem by wearing a pair of too-small nylon basketball shorts under a jockstrap. Woven nylon is a very smooth material. Problem solved. Not sure how it helps you; maybe somebody out there makes a nylon bra?
