How would an English speaker most closely approximate the pronunciation of Tubingen?
Ah! The lovely university town of Tuebingen! Quite a quaint little place. Anyhow, it’s pronounced somewhat like “TOO-beeng-en.” However, since the “u” has an umlaut over it (I forget how to make it on my keyboard), the “OO” in “TOO” is pronounced as if you were making the “OO” sound while pursing your lips as for the “EE” sound. Does that make any sense? If you took French, you might recognize the sound as the “u” in “tu.”
Thanks!
