Proof that I am a dork.

I own more Miskatonic University t-shirts than I do for my own actual alma mater. I also own an apron with a Hunter S. Thompson quote on it, and I wear it when barbecuing despite the fact that it too small.

You?

Me? I don’t know enough about you to further prove that you’re a dork. :stuck_out_tongue:

Throughout the recent Thai protests, I’ve had to catch myself when I hear reference to the “red shirts” - thinking of course that they mean the ubiquitous Star Trek security officers who more often than not serve as disruptor-fodder.

I post here.

For a lot of my friends, it usually hits them how much of a dork I actually am when they ask me why I do certain things in RPGs like Mass Effect and KOTOR and I tell them it’s because it’s in-character for my protagonist to do so.

I’m enough of a geek that my picture is here, and I didn’t even know about it.

A substantial portion of my wardrobe consists of shirts from www.pegasuspublishing.com. If you’re not already familiar with them, you might be interested in the section of Lovecraft-related clothing. (I wore the “What part of ‘ph’nglui mglw’nafl Cthulhu r’lyeh w’gah nagl fhtagn’ don’t you understand?” shirt to the library today.)

I own things from thinkgeek.com including a Force Feedback Lightsaber, many T-shirts from there. I also buy shirts off woot.com

I found myself online debating the physics of comic books as relating to a particular costume that I was trying to make. “But…fabric just doesn’t DO that. And it can’t be metal, because…”

Also, I own a Tauntaun sleeping bag.

I know I am a dork because after I read this post, I clicked on this link and spent twenty minutes shopping.

And got most of the in-jokes.

That Guild of Radical Militant Librarians t-shirt has been on my wishlist for some time now. I also own a really nice “The angels have the phonebox” shirt.

And my kids go around saying “No one expects the Spanish Inquisition!”

I used to have a t-shirt that said, “Ladies Sewing Circle and Terrorists Society - Men’s Auxiliary”. But it “shrunk”. Probably just as well - it’s not such a PC thing to wear these days. Otherwise, I might as well expect the Spanish Inquisition.

Nobody expects the …

… okay, that doesn’t make me a dork, but then I’ve never read Lovecraft. I prefer “nerd”, and I think MPFC fits.

My friend had the women’s version of that and I was jealous. It doesn’t do so well anymore, though.

I just thought of one–I own an element t-shirt, an old-school Berkelium one (a bit like this). And, it’s my second; the first one wore out.

We have a new cat. She’s very skittish, and tends to run away when we look at her. Her name is Elly.

It’s short for elementary particle.

Dorks? Us? No.

It’s been debated before on SDMB–what is a dork? Nerd? Geek?

HA! Me too! I haven’t paid for anything yet, but I’m slowly putting stuff in my shopping cart.

I’m going to have to dig out the card tonight.
What? I need new summer clothes.

Here’s a recent post on my blog that proves what a dork I am: Hunting down the locations for the Safety Dance music video.

I have a t-shirt… that says the LA triathalon… the Scoot Shoot and Loot… from the riot days… i wore it out a few times and got vigorous public condemnation…

I also have a t-shirt that says Welcome the the 1996 Chicago Democratic Convention… we kicked your father’s ass and we’ll kick yours too… Don’t wear that outside either… lol
