Proper glass for a drink?

I’m not sure if this is an IMHO or a MPSIMS, but I’ll start it off here just because my gut says so.

So lately I’ve been drinking vodka, lime and 7Up. I know it’s not something 19-year-old punk guys drink, but I like it and it’s different from all the guys who drink rye and coke or straight beer. Plus, I get some funny looks when I switch from a VL7 to a boilermaker and back.

Anyways, I’m getting sick of carrying the plastic cup around. It’s ugly. Ideally, I’d love to drink it out of a martini glass, but martini glasses are just too small.

Would anyone have any suggestions for what sort of glass I can drink this out of while still looking cool?

Oh, you’d be amazed at how big martini glasses can be. Trust me on this one.

That said, while IANABartender, I’d recommend an 8 oz. highball glass. Try this link: http://www.webtender.com/db/glass/3

There is a link of this page to a list of drinks served in highball glasses; you might see if anything like your VL7 matches.

How big do you make your drinks for your own consumption? A half-pint? A pint?

A half-pint draft beer glass would look alright, I imagine. Or you can maybe make your drink in a 12 oz. beer mug. Or a pint glass if you plan on getting profoundly pissed.

You can probably add a small splash of Coca Cola to the vodka-7Up concoction for color. This would make it resemble beer without changing the flavor.

What you have there is a highball. So go to Crate & Barrel and choose whichever highball glass you think is the coolest.

I agree that a highball glass is indeed what is appropriate for this particular drink but I’m a little confused how the act of drinking can make you look cool.

I work in a hospital and once young able bodied visitor asked if I could supply him with a new urinal. I said of course but I wondered why he would need it. He told me he was going to a keg party that night and he was going to use it for his beer mug. I suppose that would look kind of cool.

The appropriate vessel for your drink would be a replica of your hind quarters rendered in chocolate, so that you could drink your candy ass drink out of a candy ass.

Sorry, I couldn’t resist. I actually don’t gauge manliness by quality or quantity of drinks.

You know what I think would look really cool, for real? One of those big ole ceramic German beer steins, the kind that come with a metal hinged lid and have raised, painted scenes of bucolic German people on them.

I’d check either online of you want a new one (sorry, no link, but maybe just put “beer stein” in Google or something), or check out some flea markets or thrift shops. Those steins come in several sizes too, from what I’ve seen, so I bet you could find one big or small enough to suit your needs.

For some reason you can always find those steins in knife or cutlery stores.

cher and the Mermaid are correct. What you’ve got there is a Cuba Libre, except you’re drinking vodka instead of rum, and 7-up instead of Coca-Cola. In other words, a highball (a shot of booze mixed with a carbonated beverage over ice).

Drink a highball out of a highball glass. If you want a bigger glass of vodka and 7-up, you could use a Collins glass, I won’t tell on you.

No stein. You’ll look like a goofball.

Hee! I always forget just how truly goofy I really am, because I’m pretty used to myself. I need to be careful when normal people ask me for advice, heh, heh.

I mean, just because I’d drink a cocktail out of a beer stein…!

I’d be going to the closest & cheapest store & getting tha biggest cool plastic cup.

Unbreakable is good.
