The Pit’s for ranting against someone or something, or groups thereof. It’s for rants that have bite to them. It’s for anger.
It’s not for minor complaints.
If you just have a little whine about something (say you don’t like “American Idol” that much), and you’re not going to use profanity at all (or maybe just a scattershot “shit” or two), then you should be posting in MPSIMS.
If you are really pissed off or feel that others will be when they respond to your rant, then put the damn thread in the Pit!
Pit: You fucking Discovery channel bozos really piss me off!!!
MPSIMS: That Croc Hunter dude’s annoying
Too often recently, I’ve seen threads in the Pit that aren’t all that “tough.” They’re nothing more than polite requests for some kind of behavior.
Not if it’s a complaint or whine. At least that’s my understanding. If you were asking people’s opinions on the Croc Hunter, you’d go to Cafe Society, but you were complaining or bitching about the show, you’d go to either the Pit or MPSIMS.
What’s the point of this thread? Is it in response to something specific? Or just a general trend you think you’ve observed? If you see something you believe is in the wrong forum, email a mod. We’ll take care of routing it to whatever place we deem proper.
If you wish to initiate a discussion of the forum boundaries, ATMB would be the place, whether you’re asking for staff and/or member input. This isn’t a terribly good way to go about reinforcing, modifying, or suggesting behavior of other members.
I was told that minor rants go in MPSIMS - I believe it was Tuba who said this. Or is it the fact that this concerns the MB as a whole trump the fact that it’s a minor rant? I guess it should be in ATMB, then.
It’s none of those, dan. I’m just curious why you felt the need to bring this to everyone’s attention? Is it because of a perceived problem? If that’s the case, lemme know where that problem lies so the staff can review it and do something about it. If it’s not because of a perceived problem, then, well, the whole thing is kinda useless, ain’t it?
I was never clear on the subject. But now I understand a bit better. I’m not much of a FUCK YOU! type of person. At least not readily. And I’m often near a flat line stage when I hit the boards.
