Props from movies you instantly recognize

American Beauty

Can’t believe no one’s gotten this one yet. Hint: it won Best Picture.

That’s the one for #1, but the other two are for other movies. I realize now my post was not clear. Sorry.

Is that the best picture of it you could find? I can’t make out what it is.

Cleopatra is all I could even guess.

This one goes back a bit.

I couldn’t find a better picture of the prop. It’s a bracelet, if that helps. From a movie that won Best Picture. Not Cleopatra.

That Falcon. I can’t really think of anything else. I guess the Men In Black memory wiping thing but I wouldn’t recognize it unless it was being used.

Well, it’s not Pulp Fiction, because those items are only spoken of in dialogue, never actually used as props. Amusingly, they were actually put to use – the very use they were threatened for in Pulp Fiction – in the final season of 24.

Very true. But they’re mentioned in another movie as well, and I was hoping somebody would remember it. I think it may have been just dialog, too, in Charley Varrick.

Gladiator?

That’s the movie this site claims the line alluded to.

Excellent. The issue came up not long ago in another thread and I was stunned about it, because CV is another of my all-time favorites. Joe Don Baker’s character is iconic.

The Exorcist?

#1 Pulp Fiction?
#2 ?
#3 A Christmas Story?
#4 The Matrix?

Well, I almost guessed Strangelove, but I wasn’t sure.

The one I came into the thread, long ago, to mention is the green crystal.

Wow! That is so familiar, and yet I can’t nail down the movie. Those things had to be put inside some other gizmo, right?

Here’s four.

There isn’t a website devoted to being a central database of prop locations, is there?
