The Blues Brothers.
“They look like Hasidic diamond merchants or somethin’!” Man, do I love that scene.

Here’s a good one. (Or a close replica anyway.)
Wild guess: E.T.?
Could it be Wizard of Oz?
You’re real close. We watched it last night on On Demand. Funnier even now with all those wrecked cars and shopping mall. Does anybody have a dollar figure for all that?
Pee Wee’s Big Adventure.
Woulda loved to have seen Miss Gulch riding that, though.
IMDb Trivia says the film wrecked 103 cars (a record at the time), but does not give a dollar value for the various destructions.
It’s amazed me all along about how the producers raised the money for all that mayhem and carnage, not to mention the crowds. The credits alone suggest a budget in the millions if not more. And I think I remember that the movie didn’t even take off until it had been out a few years. All the more amazing.
Budget: $27,000,000
US Gross: $57,229,890
Thank you! That’s astounding, and I guess I was in error about the “starting off slowly” I had thought I had heard about.
I didn’t think this was gonna be another “guess what I’m talking about?” game thread. Why not simply post what it is and do a separate game thread for all the guessing?
Also, I think vehicles should count as props. Batmobile, NCC-1701, The Time Machine, the modified Delorean, the last of the V8 interceptors, the mothership at Devil’s Tower, a Tie fighter, etc… all fit the thread, imho.
Cool pics, btw. I’m really enjoying it.
Yeah, it was the 10th biggest film of 1980, so I’d say that probably wasn’t the case.
Amazing site! Thanks for passing that along.
Now I have to wonder where I read those bogus “facts” about Blues Brothers that had me so wrong. Maybe it was some other terrific film of the era that didn’t do so well. Maybe I’m just plain wrong!
The snitch from the Harry Potter films, I believe.
You stole my answer!
I just found this in a store the other day. It’s not exactly right, but it’s close.
Did we ever get an answer for the snake bracelet? It’s driving me crazy.
Shakespeare in Love. In an effort to find his muse and defeat writer’s block, Shakespeare (following the advice of a…conjurer, I guess) wrote his name on a slip of paper, placed it inside the bracelet, and gave it to his sometime-lover Rosaline. It later broke while she was in flagrante delicto with Burbage, revealing Shakespeare’s name and sending Burbage into a rage.
Missed that. Thanks.
Prominently used in two Ah-nold flicks:
Terminator 2
and
Predator
which was supposed to be the instantly recognizable one ?
I associate it more with Predator but YMMV.
