According to one, dubious, source, the American ambassador was raped before he was murdered (Lebanon news rape report on murdered U.S. amb. in Libya). Unlikely, but then I also found it unlikely that the ambassador had been killed in the first place.

Given that he was reportedly killed by a grenade launched from outside the building (dying of suffocation in the resulting fire), I’m not sure how that’s supposed to have worked. I’m going to say it’s bullshit.

Yeah, the Libyans seem to feel genuinely bad that some of their bad apples did this. And of all the political leaders in the region, I think that the stance taken by Prime Minister Mustafa Abushagur and the Libyan government seems the most rational and helpful.
