If they really have a well founded fear then they have to make their claim in the first safe country they transit.

Back to the protesters, I have a simple rule to determine the level of credence I give to protesters. If the crowd carries more than a couple of American flags, they’re probably right wing extremists. If there are dozens of flags, they’re probably assholes. If there are Gadsden flags, they’re most definitely assholes.
That’s because being in the US without documentation isn’t a criminal offense and a deportation hearing is a civil matter. They aren’t guaranteed the right to legal counsel in a civil court.
Minors can’t be automatically deported without a hearing in any case and a large number of these immigrants are minors.
If you came home and found a small child had wandered into your yard would you feel some sense of moral obligation as a human being to see that they wound up in safe hands? Same kind of thing. Immigration is at its heart a humanitarian, civil, administrative endeavor not a criminal case.
It’s quite clear that Republicans used up their lifetime supply of sympathy for Hispanic immigrants on Elian Gonzalez.
As if they gave a fvck about him either.
