The fact that this “horrible” man refused a million dollars to turn his poor wife over to her * in denial* family so that they could continue prolonging the poor lady’s “life”? (Some say there was an earlier 10 million dollar offer, but 1 mil works for me, I’m poor…) instead of allowing her to go * much too late,* “gently into the good night”…or at least as gently as possible, given the long years of agony she was forced to endure…both during ANd after it was determined that she HAD no life to speak of? Eleven years, IIRC…her husband tried for eleven years to do whatever he could to bring her back to some semblence of life. After eleven years, he determined that she wasn’t coming back, and he tried to allow her to die with dignity.
He deserves a medal.
The rest of her family needs serious therapy.

Rarely has so much misnformation and lies been so widely circulated. The Schindlers are pathetic morons with the most deep seated case of collective hysteria and denial I have ever seen. Still mostly I just feel pity for them. I hope they can get the counseling and therapy they need to move forward through their grieving process.
By many different accounts, Terri Schindler was a shy, overweight loner. Her mother used to say she was Terri’s only friend. Michael Schiavo was the reportedly the first man she kissed and the first one to show her affection. She lost weight, married him and seemed truly happy.
I think that Mrs. Schindler resented Michael taking Terri away from her and never got over it. I doubt she ever will.
Posts like Doppleganger’s make me think the only person who should sue is Michael Shiavo. He’s been completely slandered and liabled by a group of ill informed right wing Christian fundy lunatics.

Mrs. Schiavo was not known to be an athlete so how did she break so many bones (as indicated on the bone scan)? Michael S. suggested that it occured during Physical Therapy. If that’s true then there should be an investigation into the PT team where she received treatment. If I were on a jury I certainly wouldn’t convict Mr. Schiavo with the evidence on the table. However, I think there is enough to warrant a serious investitgation into possible criminal wrong doing. Let’s interview the paramedics who were first on the scene for example. Let’s see if Nurse Iyar (who is backed up by nurse Law) really filed a police report like she said she did. Let’s see if the autopsy shows any damage around the throat area. Let’s interview under oath Mrs. Schiavos former co-workers who say that Michael used to check her odometer, and was abusive. They also say she often had bruises. Let’s look at her medical records before the accident and see if there was any indication of an eating disorder (which was never proven). Let’s look at her lab results soon after admission to the hospital after her collaspe to see why there were no elevated cardiac enzymes if she had an MI.

Here is the court case abstract in which Terri’s desire to NOT have her life extended artificially is verified. Keep in mind that verifiable facts rule in a court of law. Rampant speculation has no place there.
I hope I’m not being a dismissive jerk. I haven’t been reading up on this case every day for a month (or more) like many people in this thread. So I don’t have the same level of exasperation. And I have no faith in Talk Radio Propagandists. My own take is this: “Terry would not have wanted to be in this persistent vegetative state. This was established in the court ruling cited above. Speculation about the evils of Michael Schiavo’s motives are less impressive than facts. Political grandstanding long ago failed to impress me. Remove the tube.”
