Proxy IP address use

Just a notification, for anyone who watches these things on a list, y’know, Matrix-style:

I, Scholar Beardpig, live in the People’s Republic of China and thus have to use Astrill, a commercial proxy program, to do many mundane and easy things, like look at Youtube or access Gmail. Because there are more things that require a proxy than that forbid it, I usually just leave it on all the time and forget about.

However, for reasons I find entirely sensible, this board does not permit access via a known proxy IP. No disputation. It’s easy to switch on-and-off.

However, should I try to log in from a listed proxy-IP, or should I already be logged in but switch to a proxy-IP, please be advised that this is just me forgetting to switch it off before I come here, or already have a tab open and do something in another tab and turn it on and forget to turn it off, or something like that.

No requests or anything, just notification. Thanks!

Actually, we allow proxy addresses on this board. It’s just when someone is acting like a troll or being a jerk, and then we go looking for their IPs, using a proxy is more likely to get you banned. Not just because you use a proxy.

Once in a while a proxy address will be used by too many spammers and we might ban it for that reason.

[li]Banned by proxy?[/li][li]Kinda like found guilty in absentia?[/li][li]Should we support your by proxy by signing your votes over to someone else?[/li][/ul]

Is this even approximately correct?
