PS2 DVD volume question

Why is the volume level with DVDs on a PS2 so much lower than the games? I have PS2s hooked up to two different stereos using red/white RCA input. When I want to watch a DVD movie, I have to turn the volume up almost twice as high to get the same levels. I turned the volume on the PS2 settings all the way up, and I made sure that digital out was “off” since I’m not using it.

Am I right in assuming all PS2s are like this? If yours isn’t, how did you get around it? This happened to me with both a launch PS2 and one purchased just this past August.

Mine’s like that too, and last night, I settled down to watch Goldmember with my family. I always have to turn the volume right up on my stereo and TV to get any kind of decent sound.

Trouble is, I forget to turn it down afterwards, and when I turn it off and watch TV it nearly deafens me…

Mine’s over a year old now…

Someone come up with a solution please…
