Ps3 finally hacked?!

lol!

Good one!

Hmmm. Texas Instruments included a TI-BASIC interface on the TI-81 and newer calculators, and included file transfer capabilities on the TI-82 and TI-85. The programming community figured out how to run assembly code on those calculators, mostly for gaming, and TI turned the exploit into a feature for future calculators. TI didn’t intend for games to be played on the devices, but they made things easier for the new programming communities that sprung up.

Which then raises the question, “Why can’t Sony adopt a similar attitude?” Do they think that John Q. Homebrewer’s 2D Freeware platformer is going to undercut sales of Uncharted 2?

The difference is that TI makes their money on calculators, but Sony loses money on consoles. As a result, Sony doesn’t want anyone doing anything on their consoles that doesn’t involve buying some other product of theirs.

I don’t get it.

I think the PS3 had the ability to run linux and then Sony brought out a patch that disabled it. This pissed a number of people off who were using PS3s as cheap processing power.
