Hi I bought a 12 Gb “super slim” PS3 from a garage sale to play my singstar games on. I’ve now ordered a 250 gb cheap HDD from Hong Kong for it. I was wondering what the loading times are like on games like Rage and GTA4 are like. I’m thinking of getting GTA V when it comes out - I guess it would be similar to the GTA4 loading times.
I’ve tried searching on Google but couldn’t really find any info…
What are the times like - is there an initial long wait (e.g. 5 mins?) then a shorter loading time between levels? As far as installation times go, that doesn’t matter.

The load times should be a bit better from an install that over the disc, but you’re still looking at pretty hefty load times compared to a PC. If comparing to the xbox 360 - I think the load times, for the most part are fairly similar.
If you really want to see them in action, you’re best bet is to find PS3 footage of the game on youtube/twitch tv, but keep in mind that most people will edit them out.
GTA IV takes a long time to load - but it was an early PS3 game, and later Rockstar games load much faster. I would expect GTA V to load faster than GTA IVThe PS3 generally had pretty slow load times early in its life but now it’s pretty decent. I don’t have Rage so I can’t comment on that…
