Sony’s biggest disadvantage in this market is the language itself.

I don’t think he was being serious. I think he what he said was more of a lead-in for the comic in that link than a statement to the effect that PS3’s actually are rare.
So Sony offers a stripped down version of the PS3 in Europe and Australia for more than what it costs in either the US or Japan, and expects crowds? What was that about delusional? Their slogan in the States is, after all “live in your world, play in ours,” after all. How totally fitting 
No kidding. Outside a Wal-Mart here earlier this year, I saw a huge Nintendo-produced banner with only one word on it:
