PS4 and PS5 owners in the UK may soon be entitled to financial compensation

PS4 and PS5 owners in the UK who purchased digital games from the PlayStation Store since August 19, 2016, may be entitled to a share of up to £5 billion in damages if a new legal claim is successful.

A consumer-rights advocate is alleging that Sony may have illegally charged up to 30% commission on certain purchases of games and downloadable content from the PlayStation Store.

The estimated damages per individual in this claim range from £67 to £562.

This lawsuit (?) seems like it has an uphill battle. The two obvious issues are that you can buy video games in plenty of places besides the PlayStation store and the games basically cost the same every where. If anything, Sony “overcharging” through their store just protects their retail partners.

It ain’t my money being spent pursuing it, so whatever.
