PS4 audio problem

My PS4 won’t play audio from a particular DVD anymore. It will play audio from other DVDs and other devices (e.g., computer) will play audio from this DVD. As far as I can tell the only difference between this DVD and others is that this one is in stereo rather than 5.1. My partner tells me she has played the DVD successfully before from the PS4.

The setup is: PS4 -> HDMI -> 7.1 channel AV receiver -> HDMI -> TV

The PS4 is set to output linear PCM via HDMI. The DVD sound settings are linear PCM.

Further information:

Both controllers had spontaneously unpaired from the PS4 sometime prior to today. When restarting the PS4 in an effort to pair the controller it performed an update.

I have a second PS4 connected directly by HDMI to a TV. This PS4 plays the DVD correctly.

Any ideas?

You could try going from thr PS4 right to the TV to see if you get the same results. To eliminate the reciever from the equation.

Well, I don’t think my HDMI cables are long enough to try that. My second PS4 going direct to its TV works fine so my current hypothesis is that it is the PS4 -> receiver interface. Just not sure why it is happening now and hasn’t happened in the past.
