Psych theme in Spanish

I’ve been rewatching some old Psych episodes, and it occurred to me to be curious–is this alternate theme fluent Spanish or jokey “Spanish 101?”

Sounds jokey to me. During the chorus, the English line is “I know,” which would be the term “yo se” in Spanish (well, more likely just “se,” which means “I know.” The “yo” would be included mostly to keep the same lyrical rhythm). They say “saber,” (pronounced sah-bear) which is the infinitive “to know.”

However, I’m not fluent, and can only have very basic conversations in Spanish. Someone else on the board is sure to know more, and will no doubt explain that I have no idea what I’m talking about. And I welcome the correction.

Just guessing, but it’s probably real Spanish.

The lead, formerly James Roday, has started using his real name professionally - James Roday Rodriguez. He’s embracing his heritage.

But in the episode he spoke what was supposed to be bad high school Spanish. And it was a heavy-handed parody of Mexican soap operas.

There was another episode that was Bollywood-themed and the theme song was done in Hindi, in the style of a Bollywood song.

So he was being goofy? In Psych? Huh.
