But not all psychics claim to be mind readers. In fact, most do not. That is a different gift. More along the lines of telepathy. Psychics work differently, as their powers fall along the lines closer to what we call remote viewing. (something the US government experimented with for over a decade, btw).
Where are the cites? At the very least, you need to document what the ‘psychics’ said (preferably in a reputable newspaper), then document what the outcome was (also in a reputable source).
As it is, you have provided no proof that the alleged murders even happened- let alone that they were solved by psychics. Several of the claims state that a police officer publicly thanked a psychic and/or said that psychics help solve crimes. Where’s the proof any cop said that? At least that would be proof that a cop somewhere believes in psychics. You’ve offered up nothing to make me believe.
Why are there no links to the news stories? All those snippets are remarkably short on details.
If these psychics are real, why have none been tested under controlled conditions or picked Randi’s pocket for a million?
Most people who claim to have psychic abilities ARE fake. Probably about 90%. This besmirch’s the true sensitives. (a much more accurate word, btw). I was married to one of the 10%. Till then I was a skeptic like you…that is, ignorant of how sensitives really work.
LOL is a popular and widely-accepted Net Acronym. How can you not know that? Or were you just trying to be pedantic? If so, goo job! LOL
I have more articles that depict proven psychic examples. You cannot deny them all. If so…you are as bad as Trump with his “fake news” claims every time he reads some article that refutes him or disproves him.
Peer review articles do not deal with this topic. As they don’t deal with MANY things that are true.
He is not my guy. My wife refused to take money. Also, somebody getting paid for something does not mean that what they do is not true.
May I inquire as to what you are a doctor of? What is your Ph.D in? Or maybe you are an MD? (wink wink)
I was a skeptic like you until several years ago when a young woman who would become my wife and claimed to be a “sensitive” converted me. She told me things about a brother she did not know I even had. In fact, I lied to her beforehand about not even having a brother! I was (am) aware of all the tricks bogus psychics use in order to glean info. Thus, I was sure not to reveal a thing to her. I even went in the other direction, lying to her about certain things.
As a former Pysch major (only a BA, sorry, not a PhD like you. LOL) and a health-care professional, AND as I said, having lived with a sensitive for five years, I am well aware of the powers of the human mind and body. I also have studied greatly on Evolutionary Psychology, and through this have come to believe that homo sapien used to have these now-called psychic abilities a lot more often than we do now. Modern technology has eroded our skills, as has the fact we are much much further removed from nature.
A good 90% of people who claim to be psychics are frauds. This denigrates the validity of the true Sensitives. It’s sorta like politicians. (another business I used to be in). Fully 90% are honest, hard-working and well-meaning. But the corrupt and/or sociopathic minority besmirch the entire occupation.
My ex-wife was a real Psychic. I was a skeptic like you, until she proved herself to me before we got married. Or even began dating.
Randi does not offer his Randi $1 million Challenge any longer. Too bad…my ex could have won it. In fact, we were making arrangements with his people to have her tested in his so called “neutral and controlled setting” right before they cancelled their Award. (Hmm…wonder why? Me thinks they caught wind of Robyn’s past psychic endeavors and didn’t want to cough-up the dinero. Or…,.it could just be coincidence, eh?)
All totally unverifiable boasting aside, give me your best contemporary example of a “real psychic”, so that we can take a look at her/his claims and see how they match up with reality.
Or…you could be spinning a bullshit tale to make yourself look “special”, knowing that Mr. Randi has better things to do than search through message boards looking for crap claims like yours, and better sense than to challenge such a claim if he did see it because you would turn it around and claim he was bullying you.
You are not special because your wife is magic. Grow up.
To date there has been exactly zero evidence that anyone has psychic abilities.
100% are fake, judging by the evidence.
So, what is it they’re sensitive to? If it’s “psychic phenomena”, “psychic energy”, or any other assorted “psychic” whatever, what’s wrong with the word psychic? It seems to me that you’re making a distinction without a difference, and you’re doing so to give your “take” a veneer of credibility, when it’s really obfuscation that you’re after.
You wouldn’t happen to have an actual source for your statistics, would you?
Okay, then, how do they work? I don’t mean by what manner do they [del]fleece their marks[/del] control these so-called skills? If you’re so much in the know, why don’t you tell us how it works? I don’t mean post more unsupportable assertions on vague crimes and unidentifiable LEOs. I mean explain the mechanism, explain to us how one determines one’s so-called gift.
While we’ve got a live one, perhaps he’ll answer a question I’ve had for ages. So many of these so-called psychics also claim to be highly religious, specifically of the fundamentalist Christian variety of religion. Doesn’t the Bible prohibit their dallying in such things? So, either they’re real (Hah!) and offending their deity or they’re fake (Yeah, I know.) and still offending their deity. Care to explain that one away, O, Ye Poster Whose Name Probably Portends Your Speed of Departure As Opposed To The Timeliness Of An Actual Answer From You?
Thanks for admitting my wife is magic. Well, ex-wife. And not so much magic as she just happens to be imbued with an enhanced sense of cognition and perception.
And…uh…I’m about as grown-up as I need to be. Thanks again, though.
To a person with 5th Grade math skills, trigonometry is nonsense. LOL.
As far as “how it works”—I am not sure. I am not psychic. You’d have to ask somebody who is, like Robyn. But as far as I understood her, from the times she tried to explain to me, her “visions” are more akin to a type of remote viewing than actually predicting the occurrence of future events. She said that an example might be of how you or I can tap our memories and remember, say, that vacation in Cancun we took last year. Well, she does this, but it is with things that have not happened yet. It is the same “mind’s eye” dynamic at work, I guess.
Insofar as the actually medium that enables this remote viewing, again, who knows? I am guessing it has to work on a quantum level. Most likely in the area that physicists call “field theory.”
And, thanks for the insult, but Robbie never fleeced anybody. As I said before (sigh) she never accepted payment for her services. You would do well to read my past posts about her before attacking her I feel.
Nice flounce, but we would still like to see something more than “Cause I SAID so!!” from you. Show us some verifiable evidence concerning any so-called “psychic”, even your ex.
Again…you and others are demonstrating your egregious ignorance on how the cognition and remote viewing of Sensitives really works. But hey that’s all good since you did not live with one for five years as did I.
So allow me to elucidate, Ser Airdale: Sensitives do. not. see. everything. in. the. future. Not even remotely–pardon the pun. And this of course is a good thing since if they did it the sensory overload would doubtless drive them insane!
No…the way it works is, they have to sit and concentrate and bring forth all the focus and attention they can muster. Sometimes it takes them several attempts to receive a “snapshot” (what Robyn used to call it) of what it is their looking for. And here’s the thing too: sometimes they NEVER get the glimpse. Robyn used to say that when she tried, her “hit ratio” (her term, again) was maybe along the lines of 70%.
Also…sometimes she would get “snapshots” that came to her “unbidden.” The strange and remarkable thing about this was, that those unbidden shots would ALWAYS be correct. Whereas the ones she had to work for were accurate only about two-out-of-three times. Hmm.
