For one of my pre-req classes I am taking for graduate school I have to write a report on an individual and analyze their psychology and their actions as to how it ties into psychology concepts. I was thinking of doing William Moulton Marston the psychologist who invented the lie detector test and who created the DC Comic book Character Wonder Woman. I’m trying to find good sources on him and any articles or anything that analyze his actions and thinking. Any suggestions? Thanks
One of the board’s rules is “no help with homework”.
If you’ve gotten to that educational level without knowing how to search for articles you’re definitely not qualified for graduate school. Barely for sophomore.
He isn’t asking for help, he is asking for sources that he might not be aware of.
Thanks for being a shining example of the welcoming nature of these boards.
You mean the “nature of the board” that has always been, “do your own damn homework”?
And Nava’s right – your first place to look for sources shouldn’t be some random message board on the internet.
Yeah, he’s in grad school for crissakes! Google it, duh!!!
Judging by the traditionally grudging replies shown, I’d suggest you rephrase it for other fora.
Drop the first sentence and simply state for debate: ‘**William Moulton Marston: Misunderstood Loony or Villain ?’ **and people will then offer their opinions if any.
Doesn’t matter whether you like him or whatever; just make it a topic instead of a question.
Actually, not having heard of the gentleman, my choices above were based on his… inventions mentioned in the OP.
Looking him up on Wiki my prescience was well rewarded by discovering considerable nuttiness, almost independent of the ‘lie detector’.
The only hope for peace is to teach people who are full of pep and unbound force to enjoy being bound… Only when the control of self by others is more pleasant than the unbound assertion of self in human relationships can we hope for a stable, peaceful human society… Giving to others, being controlled by them, submitting to other people cannot possibly be enjoyable without a strong erotic element.
That explains Wonder Woman’s magic lasso.
He lived with his wife and her female lover and was very into male submissiveness. Which is a perfectly acceptable kink, but he seemed to think it should be that way for everyone. Evangelical kinksters are never much fun.
As well as the lie detector, he was also involved in one of those answer 300 questions and see where you fall on 4 quadrants type of things.
The FBI considered him a total crank and snake oil salesman for the lie detector.
Well, that explains some of the storyline weirdness in early Wonder Woman comics… Folks used to get tied up a LOT in those.
They certainly held my interest for hours at a time.
Jesus some of you people need to remove the 2 by 4 that lodged up your ass
Take it down a notch. Typically we frown on doing others’ homework so that’s a part of board culture. I don’t think that’s the case here and it can be an interesting topic. If you’d like to flesh it out a bit more, feel free to do so.
Identifying the rule for a newcomer without the personal commentary would be better. Or simply report.
Please don’t threadshit.

It’s my understanding that no one is quite sure of the actual relationships between Marston, Elizabeth and Olive. We do know Marston brought Olive into the relationship, and that Elizabeth and Olive lived together after Marston’s death, until Olive died. Even their children haven’t (or didn’t) have much to say on the matter.
when the a\ history channel did a thing on the golden age comics they pointed out the blonde wore greek slave bracelets on her wrist and ankles just like ww… and there was a lot of girl on girl discipline hidden in them (they showed a panel where ww was over the knee of another female getting spanked and she was smiling with her eyes closed ) but there were other things in the background so most people never noticed such things
As a side note to some of you I was never asking for you to do my " homework ". I was just asking for some suggestions as to where to look.
Actually, that’s not the rule. It’s “don’t ask members to do your homework.” Helping with homework is OK.
I don’t see the OP as being in violation of the rule.
If you believe a post is against the rules you should report it instead of junior-modding it yourself.
