PT, as a furriner is naturally not one of The Dope’s more incisive or prolific posters … but I do spend an excessive amount of time here. Also having recently toured the US and met with quite a few of you I find myself engaged, symptomatic and aghast with your current tribulations and machinations.
Haven’t posted much in the past week as last Wednesday I was clever enough to have a mild stroke. The extent is relatively minor. I have lost some of the fine motor skills needed to manipulate my left hand. And with time and rehab those skills seem to be returning. I was fortunate in that I was in triage at a major local hospital barely an hour often the incident.
Apart from that, as an example of universal healthcare in action, I have spent 6 days in hospital, and probably as much as a week in the rehab hospital, had a CT scan, an MRI, and ECG and visits by plenty of specialists, performed as a case study for two groups of med students and nobody has asked to see my credit card or billed me.
Otherwise I’m in pretty good conditions and in good hands.
Very happy to hear that you escaped with relatively minor damage! Behave and follow their recommendations for not only a full recovery, but as a defense against future occurrences!
May you continue your recovery and I’m very happy that you will not suffer financial ruin due to this unfortunate incident. Lucky you to live in a civilized society. Take care of yourself.
From one of the people you met on that trip: very glad you got rapid and apparently excellent treatment. And glad it didn’t happen while you were in the USA.
Hope recovery is complete and there’s no recurrence. And that you keep posting here.
