What wasn’t to like? The media was sure to give the mogul hundreds of $million worth of free publicity; he’d finish high in several primaries; have much fun and excitement; impress the hell out of his children; become a kingpin in Cleveland; and improve the value of his brand by at least a Billion dollars! The one drawback — he lacked the competence to actually serve as POTUS — was irrelevant: No way could he actually win the nomination.
But the unthinkable happened. The American people — mad as Hell though unsure about what — had their chord struck. They taught the Powers-That-Be a lesson by pulling the lever for the stupidest asshole on the ballot. And sent Donald Trump off to be crowned in Cleveland.
He switches gears, meets in private with Establishment bigwigs (“My craziness has just been an act. I’ll take Kasich or such for Veep, give him much power; you’ll like what you see.”) Venerable GOPpers like Boehner and Gingrich give him the thumbs-up (helped along by the fact that the runner-up is an even bigger asshole than the Donald).
His competition for the Oval Office? The most hated woman in America, with a possible felony violation of the Official Secrets Act hanging over her head. The GOP gives up the Hispanic vote but sweeps mostly-white states like Iowa, New Hampshire, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania. All eyes look to Virginia to settle the election, and determine whether the hated woman or the bombastic billionaire will be sworn in on January 20th.

Hillary Clinton is the “most hated woman in America”? Just comparing her to other recent national politicians, her favoribility rating is ten points higher than Pelosi’s, fifteen higher than Palin’s and Warren’s (who I guess isn’t really “national”, but she probably has more name recognition than the average Senator outside her State) and fifteen plus higher than Fiorina’s.
And that’s politicians. I doubt they poll that kinda thing, but I’ll go out on a limb and say she would do better than, say, Casey Anthony or other murderesses,etc.
Most of the “free publicity” was reporting whatever racist/misogynistic/xenophobic thing he said that week. Its not really the kind of publicity most politicians would pay millions for.
Well, the “American People” in the sense of “a plurality of GOP primary voters”.
“The most hated woman in America” is within the margin of error of Trump’s polling in Mississippi and Utah. She will win all the States that you mention, easily.
Well, there is “The most hated woman in America” and there is “the most willfully ignorant lying whore of a politician ever to have a fake deep-pile Karastan weave bolted into his hollow skull by short vulgarian fingers in the history of America”.
There is no chance Trump would make such a statement or agree to anything of the sort. He is such a narcissist I doubt he is capable of considering it. I doubt there are few people who have such an inflated sense of their own self importance.
Are you kidding me? Trump got FAR more free publicity than the rest of the field combined. It reached the point where the only question reporters ever asked the other GOP contenders was, “What do you think of what Trump said yesterday?”
