PULP FICTION's missing scenes

I was just perusing the IMDB and noticed that veteren character actor Dick Miller was in the cast for PULP FICTION as a character named Monster Joe, but his scenes were deleted. Anyone know what these scenes were about?

I check the cast list on Microsoft Cinemania and what do I find but Dick Miller is down there playing Monster Joe.

Is this an error or does a cast list include an actor who play a scene which gets deleted?

SAG/AFTRA have a bunch of rules, so it can get confusing.
Often actors are contractually guaranteed credit in a movie for work they’ve done regardless of whether the director decides to use the scenes later. Even if it was not contractually motivated, the director will often give the credit as a thank you to the actor. Also, struggling unknown actors who are cut can still use the film on their resumes and when people look it up they go, “oh yeah he’s here in the credits.”

So, yeah, most likely Miller filmed scenes that Mr. Tarrantino decided not use later for whatever reason. Probably something to do with the fact that the movie was already 2+ hours long and looked like its plot structure was assembled by fourth graders on a Captain Crunch and Ritalin binge. Does the kitchen sink get writing credit?

In the script, the deleted scene:

At the very end of the movie, Mr. Wolf, Jules and Vincent take the dead body to a junkyard named Monster Joe’s Truck and Tow. Monster Joe makes a brief appearance, and he and Mr. Wolf joke about the dead-body disposal business as if they were both insurance salesmen or something. It only lasts about two minutes and was probably cut because it isn’t essential to the story. Although it would be a very funny scene with deadpan delivery.

Sorry to digress in the above. To actually address your post, unfortunately, no, I don’t. But I’ll ask around.

You might also look for the screenplay, maybe an early draft has the scenes that were cut. Here’s one link from the God Among Directors website.

Daowajan beat me to it. Good Going.

Tarantino says he removed this scene because it slowed down getting to the diner scene. He claims this is his favorite deleted scene. Yes it is that Dick Miller. The scene begins with Harvey Keitel discussing prices and goes into Keitel and ends with Keitel talking with Rachel and leads into the scene where Rachel asks Travolta & Johnson about their clothes.

If you want to see this scene and the others, pick up a copy of the Canadian version of the DVD (yes it IS different than the US version, but I don’t why). The stock number is ADVD 2560 from Alliance-Atlantis.

This is where I got my copy.

This is a great dealer, if I’m allowed to say so.

Jesus, did you watch the same movie I did? Pulp Fiction is one of the most original movies i’ve ever seen, the non-linear style flowed so well and the story was just so…cool! Tarrantino took that gritty feel of Resevoir dogs and perfected it in Pulp Fiction I’d say. Hes one of the few directors today that don’t use a script out of a madlibs book.

The only thing that confused me about the movie, was in the diner scenes. It opens up “if any of you f-ing pigs move, i’ll execute every mother f-ing last one of you”. When the scene is shown again at the end of the movie, the lady says something along the lines of “If any of you mother f-ers move, ill execute all of you.” Why the change?

I don’t think it changed…

My friend told me about it, and I didnt believe him, so we rented it. It is, without a doubt different.

The scenes are different on the VHS copy I have through Columbia House. It’s not the special edition one. I got it through columbia house as soon as it was available, then about 2 months later, a special edition with cut scenes was out on the market.

The first one is the same as what’s on the soundtrack. The second one at the end of the film, she says something different about the execution.

Maybe it’s an audio track that’s different but the scene itself is the same.

I haven’t seen any of the deleted scenes but on the soundtrack there’s a picture of Travolta in a jacket that wasn’t in the original. I think it may have been from when he met Eric Stoltz to get his smack. Anyone know for sure where that is from?
