Puppy Cam!

I think they’re going to miss each other when they go to their new homes. Look how they sleep all bunched up, and their play is intense. I feel bad that they’re going to be alone.

Oh my god, is one of them being strangled?? Lots of howling.

ETA, ah, food time.

Yes, the howling is not so cute, had to mute it. They must have seen the food coming.

Yeah I know, I had headphones on and knocked them off in my hurry to get away from the noise, before I could fiddle with the volume control.

What an ingenious food dish! They can all eat at the same time.

Playtime!

God, this is so addictive. I just keep it open all of the time. Sometimes, I forget about it and wonder where the hell all of the yips, yaps and howls are coming from! I will be so disappointed when this is taken down!

Ok, they are raising the most unholy Hell I’ve ever heard! Then they all rushed over to the right side of the screen. They’re still caterwauling to beat the band. Maybe somebody came it, but isn’t staying to play? You’ve never heard such a racket!

That happened earlier…my friend and I were afraid they were being slaughtered.

My OG, they’re LOUD!!! LOL!

Puppies pommeling it–that poor pee pad is in pieces.

These pups look like what I imagine my rescue dog (a shepherd/basenji mix) looked like as a pup. I feel like I’m getting to relive my own boy’s youth. ::sniff::

I’ve noticed that they’ve started getting a little, um, harsh with each other. Really pushing buttons and bullying sometimes. I thought black collar and purple collar were going to kill each other earlier today. I also notice that those little buggars go apeshit when human mom comes around. I wonder if they’re getting to the age where it’s going to be time to go with their new families. It being close to Christmas and all. :frowning: :frowning:

lalalalalalalalalalal…I can’t hear you…

Does anyone know where these puppies live? What time zone they’re in, etc.?

They are in San Francisco and they will be going offf the air very soon – on their way to their adoptive homes. Each adoptive family is getting a puppy cam if they wish to use it.

Oh, great…there goes what little life I have left…now I’ll have to watch SIX cameras instead of just the one!

Are they supposed to be eating that diaper blanket thing?

What a mess! Hee hee

Anyone else running with this idea? It’d be an amazing idea for an animal shelter– you could check out the animals in need of homes before going in, and there could be a ‘donate now’ button. I know seeing super cute animals makes my wallet itchy.

I noticed they now have about 18,000 viewers online at the moment. Just a couple weeks ago, the number was in the high three-digits.

Awwww…they’re all kipping at the moment. It must be a relief for the owners, but I just want to poke 'em and get 'em moving again!

I had thought some shelters had tried this, but my quick attempt at Googling animal shelter web cams ended up with a P&S webcam for a small Canadian municipality’s animal shelter: looking out at the animal shelter building. (Presumably as a means of checking the building’s integrity) It seems less obvious than I had thought reading your post.

The problem is that I have to admit that puppy mommy and daddy have done hugely well on providing a clean and pleasant environment for the puppies. And that’s part of the appeal.

My former house mate bred Great Danes, and her puppies were cleaned up for visitors, and kept in livable conditions. But they were not that clean, by any measure. Puppy feces would sit below the pens for a while, where the puppies couldn’t reach it, but not exactly in an aesthetically pleasing diorama, either. Then add the difference between concrete flooring and carpets, and wood shavings over the puppy bed, and I’m not sure that an animal shelter would be able to afford the labor and materials costs to provide a similar show.

Which is not to say that it shouldn’t be considered: even at a fraction of a percent of the viewers numbers that this puppy cam got, it may prove to be an effective fundraising fillip for the shelter. More to the point, it may provide a more pleasant way for the public to access the animals in the shelter, and consider whether they want to adopt one.
