He could be considered a Buddha, though.

Gross but their prerogative.
I still think western newspapers missed a golden opportunity to publish the Danish cartoons. Medieval bigotry must be stood up to.

*Are Indians known for becoming violent when their gods are portrayed offensively? Because extremist Muslims are known for becoming violent in these circumstances.
*
A small group of Hindus have turned extremists, as a result of Islamic terrorism on Indian soil. They have been help responsible for bomb blasts in a train and a mosque.

Hindu groups did not allow a famous Indian painter(who painted topless Indian godesses) to return to India from his exile.

*I know we can all point to the fact that every group has its crazies, but we can’t make our decisions in life based on that, right?
*
I wish it were so.

I mean, some crazy maniac believes that portraying blacks and whites having sex is wrong. Does that mean no one can portray that then? So that we don’t ‘tempt fate’?

India is not as liberal as the west, yet.

Yeah, I saw the Onion article, and it definitely has the potential to inflame Hindu extremists and cause a lot of noise. Where it may be right though, is that people probably won’t get killed over it. I’m hoping the direct comparison to Muslim extremism, will help dilute the reaction. Unfortunately, people tend to have difficulty understanding satire in India, the more so if it is in English. Also, the image may be all that gets playtime and then we may be in trouble. Maybe the mocking of all the other major faiths will help.

All that said, I’m glad that image was put out. I’d much rather have religion mocked than not.

Ha. While I enjoy DT’s religion bashing as well, there is really no sense in arguing with him. He is routinely dishonest, if only by omission, in his debating (especially when it comes to showing that Christianity is ‘teh evul’). As though the fact that Christianity had similar excesses hundreds of years ago makes the fact that Islam has them in this day and age ok.
