Thanks for that. Definitely a quote that can be taken the wrong way, though maybe not as stupidly as ralphie boy tried to use it here. “Put the white back in the White House” is straight-up racist, not mildly xenophobic.

Frankly, since anyone with an IQ above 50, no matter how racist, would know wearing a shirt like this to a Romney rally would be picked up and used against Romney, I wouldn’t be at all surprised to find out this is an Obama “dirty tricks” squad member, as was done in the past, in Tea Party rallies for instance.

Obviously, it’s not an official Romney/Ryan T-shirt. Yes, there are racists in the world, the First Amendment allows them to spew racist messages, and you can find them in every party. There are racist Obama supporters too:

I’m not sure that there is such a thing as an “official” anything any more. In fact, I would opine that true freedom of speech renders the concept of Official meaningless.

One person wearing a t shirt of their own design carries as much weight as their message as fifty thousand t shirts at a rally. Why? Because if the one person’s message resonates with enough people, their words will make a difference- whereas those 50K shirts may be meaningless pap.
