Putting New Locks on Old Luggage-Can It Be Done?

I was just browsing a local antique shop. My eye was caught by a matched set of leather luggage-from the 1930’s-40’s, I’d guess. The sides of the suitcases are solid leather-and they look brand new. The bad thing-the locks are missing the keys-the shopowner doesn’t know where they are. these suitcases are unbelievably well made-nothing made today come close. I’d like to buy them-can a locksmith make keys to fit the old locks on them? They really are something special-something from another age (when American made meant top quality).

Luggage keys are not hard to find. Outfits like Ohio Travel Bag sell dozens of different keys, or they sell luggage locks, so replacing the locks entirely is another option.
