I was wondering the experience of SDopers with bad backs, traction, and/or therapy. In your opinion, has traction been helpful? And, how could I find out what the pros have to say about the success rate of traction? I also wonder if long-term traction, such as being laid-up in the hospital, has helped many.
While 15 minutes of traction is part of my therapy routine, I wonder if it is just doing me more bad than good…putting an unnecessary load on my back, perhaps before I’m really ready. I had traction from the start of my therapy beginning with a tension of about 50 lbs., and now I am at about 80 lbs. I also note it doesn’t feel bad at the time. (Maybe I am just feeling the after-effects from working the muscles.) I should note that prior to the traction, each session begins with 15 minutes of deep heating from an ultrasound device.
What’s your story?
