Q for experienced PaperPort users re: combining images

I’m on my second Visioneer scanner, and neither version of the PaperPort software bundled with them has explained how to do this: I want to join two images into one. There is an option to make two images appear on one page, but that’s not what I’m after. I want to append one directly to the other. For example, I want to scan an album cover. Now, the bed of the scanner is barely 9 inches wide, so obviously I can’t scan a big 12"x12" image all at once. I want to be able to scan half an album cover, then the other half, then join the two halves into one image.

I’m certain there must be a way to do it, since one of the sample images on the PaperPort desktop is a scanned “newspaper article” that is easily twice as long as anything that would actually fit on the bed of a Visioneer scanner.

Any help greatly appreciated.

I can’t believe I made it through that entire post and didn’t mention 24 once.

D’oh!

Anybody?

I don’t know how to do it, but I always assumed that that newspaper article was an example of how you could scan an article using the sheetfed scanner. I’ve done this many times and even if the cut-out is 16" long, the image is only the size of a regular sheet of paper.
