Q for Gameboy Advance owners.

I was told that old Gameboy games don’t work the same on Gameboy Advance. The example given was Final Fantasy Legend. He said his characters leveled up way faster than normal because of the GBA. Has anyone heard this before? I would like to get Dragon Warrior I & II for GBC but I want to make sure it’ll work on my GBA first. There are several other games I’d like to get as well.

So is it true that old games don’t work the same or is this just a rumour?

In my experience, GBC games run just fine on the GBA.

I own the DW I & II, and it plays the same as it did back in the day, aside from the extra scenes added for the new release…

The only thing that might annoy is that the GBA has a different aspect ratio on it’s screen than the GBC. It’s easy to flip between modes, and not that big of a deal.

all you can change is the width of the game (L and R)

Nintendo has confirmed that ALL GB and GBC games work on the GBA and GBA SP.

Alphabet soup at it’s finest.

That’s good news, thanks everyone.

Except for Kirby’s Tilt N Tumble. While technically it works, the sensor it tilted the wrong way, thus it’s unplayable.

Well, there’s a tiny chance it’s true.
There are some games that give extra features to GBA players. IIRC, one of the Legend of Zelda games for GBColour gives you a special cave or something if it detects you’re using a GBA. That’s the only difference I see happening.

But I think FFLegend isn’t that new to have any extra features.

Oh, GameBoy Camera has the same problem as Kirby’s TiltN Tumble.
