Q: Real One Players and such...

What is the difference between “Real One Player V2 Gold” vs. “Realplay” vs. “Windows Media Player”? Or, are these all really equivalent? - Jinx

The gold version of Real Player has more bells and whistles than Real One Player. Otherwise, they are equivalent.

Windows Media Player is very similar. The major difference is in the formats they will play. Real Player is the only player that can play Real Media files (similarly, Quicktime is the only player to play Quicktime files). However, both Windows Media and Real Player will play non-proprietary formats like MP3, CD audio, AVI, etc.

Media Player Classic plays Real Media files just fine, even better than the crappy Real Player, and there’s no evil spyware to worry about. I’m not sure if it plays quicktime or not, but it’s by far the best video player ever, and while It’s not nearly as good as winamp for MP3s, its way better than Realplayer for Real Audio files.
