Q: Wii Fit, Wii Fit Plus

Is it just me, or are the various games that involve being in synch with the character(s) on the screen not really in-synch? For example, there’s a parade game where I swear the character is not marching in synch to the whistle per the instructions. The same with Wii Step where the characters are not in step with the cues. What sayeth you?

Yes that is true, and it’s annoying.

I assume it’s because of the lag in LCD or Plasma TV’s or in your home theater system.

Games like Rock Band where game play timing is crucial have a calibration mode where an adjustment can be made, but there is no such thing on Wii Fit. Try it on an old CRT style TV and I bet it’s much better.

Has the ring of truth: the Wii is hooked up to a CRT tv here and no lag.

Are you connected to an LCD or Plasma display, or anything that’s not an old-school CRT? Many are notorious for introducing lag, due to having to process the image to display on the set. Check if your TV has a “Game” mode–this disables most of the image processing, causing the picture to display sooner.

Also, how is your Wii connected to your TV–are you using composite (yellow, white, red) or component (red, green, blue) cables? If the former, I would suggest picking up some component cables, if you’re TV supports it (most modern ones do). Not only will it significantly enhance the picture quality, but it also reduces the lag in many sets.
